The Superior Doctor Treats Illness Before It - Begins.
Acupuncture and Children
We enjoy seeing kids in our practice. We love the way they respond to acupuncture and herbal medicine. Chinese Medicine offers solutions that work with a child to stimulate healing and make the body stronger.
My pregnancies and our children served as inspiration for developing the style of treatment we use to take care of the kids that come to our practice. Pediatric Tui Na, our own form of medical Qi Gong, and yes, acupuncture, are all used to treat them. We have been using and expanding these techniques now for 17 years.
Children absorb everything from the mother while in the womb and they inherit their ancestors’ energies or lack thereof.
As our motto states, “the superior doctor treats illness before it begins.” The health of the mother and father at conception and the health of the mother throughout the pregnancy will determine the health of the child at birth. Add to that a toxic world, the high demands placed on children today, and the lack of exposure to nature in our cities, and we have the perfect recipe for disaster for the health of our kids.
It is our job and honor to try to help every child live a happy, healthy and fruitful life; and help every mom and dad to relax and revel while their children grow.
Other Methods of Treatment
Chinese Medicine and Nutrition
Oriental Medicine is a comprehensive medical system that includes acupuncture, moxibustion, herbal preparations, Tui Na (therapeutic massage), nutrition, and Qi Gong (calisthenics and meditation). It emerged from 5000 years of empirical study, and through the observation of nature and cycles of movement and balance within the body. It is based on the concepts of Yin and Yang and the 5 Phases which were derived by the ancient Chinese as a way of explaining nature. Practice has proved that in some areas the theories and clinical efficacy of Chinese medicine can supplement the deficiency of contemporary medicine. It is distinctive and complementary, a major feature of Chinese medicine.
How do Acupuncture
and Oriental Medicine Work?
Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine work by adjusting the Qi of the involved channels. This enables the Qi to carry out its function and resolve disease symptoms and discomforts that have arisen. Information of the patient is gathered by use of the Four Examinations: Looking, Asking/Listening, Smelling, and Touching. By using the principles of Yin and Yang, and the 5 Phases, a pattern will emerge and a diagnosis will be formed. Once this diagnosis, unique to each patient, is established, the disease will be treated or prevented by stimulating or reducing the flow of Qi.
Plants as medicine is one of the only forms
of healing present in every culture and ethnicity
Plants as medicine is one of the only forms of healing present in every culture and ethnicity; and has been around since the beginning of time. Even animals instinctively know which plants to consume when they’re ill. They work by changing the environment, helping to bring balance into our organ systems and tissue states, not by targeting a specific pathogen in our bodies.
Plants start working on us from the moment we lay our eyes on them. Think of how you feel when you walk through a garden. Their scent, color, shape, size all affect us in different ways. And their taste is even more powerful. These are the qualities used in Chinese herbal prescriptions.
